Yumari and Winparrku - Mitjili Gibson Napanangka

Yumari and Winparrku depicts two interconnected sites of deep cultural and ancestral significance within Mitjili Gibson Napanangka’s Country in the Western Desert. These places are linked through Jukurrpa (Dreaming), the living law that explains the creation of the landscape and governs relationships between people, land and spiritual knowledge.

The painting presents the Country from an aerial perspective, mapping the movement of ancestral beings as they travelled between Yumari and Winparrku.
