Kurruyulti - Walangkura Napanangka

Walangkura Napanangka (widow of Uta Uta Tjangala) was born beside a rockhole near the site where the Tjukurla community was later established. As a young woman, she travelled extensively with her large family across the country between Punkilpirri, near Docker River, and Walukirritji rockhole on the south-western side of Lake MacDonald.

She later moved to Papunya to live with her husband, Uta Uta Tjangala, one of the original shareholders of Papunya Tula Artists. Walangkura is the daughter of Inyuwa Nampitjinpa and the sister of Pirrmangka Napanangka, both of whom also painted for Papunya Tula Artists.

This painting depicts designs associated with Tjukurla. The roundels represent rockholes, while the lines illustrate the surrounding sandhills.
