Minyma Tingari - Maureen Morgan

Minyma Tingari depicts an important women’s ancestral narrative from Maureen Morgan’s Country in the Western Desert. The Tingari stories form part of Jukurrpa (Dreaming), describing the journeys of ancestral beings who travelled across the land, creating significant sites, establishing law and passing on cultural knowledge.

In this work, Morgan presents the landscape from an aerial perspective, using repeated forms and rhythmic patterning to suggest ceremonial places, pathways and the movement of the Minyma (women) Tingari ancestors. The composition conveys both motion and connection, reflecting the way these ancestral journeys link people, Country and ceremony.
