Camp Dog 5 - Lena Yarinkura

Out of the Mould was an exhibition presenting the first bronze and aluminium sculptures created by artists from the Maningrida region. The project was developed through a partnership between Maningrida Arts and Culture (MAC) and Urban Art Projects (UAP). During workshops held in 2000 and 2001, Maningrida artists who were known for fibre and wood sculpture were introduced to pattern making and metal casting. Artists created models in plasticine which were then cast into metal at the UAP foundry in Brisbane. The project allowed artists to experiment with new materials and forms, expanding their artistic practice and creating durable works suitable for galleries and public art.
