Ivy Janyka Nixon a Walmajarri/Gooniyandi woman, was born 1935 at Louisa Downs Station which is between Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
She painted most of her life from when she was a young girl up until she passed away in 2004.
She was most known for her bright vibrant colours and gestural painting of her country, which is a style made famous by the artists from Mangkaja Arts and of the Fitzroy Crossing area.
