Water Goanna - Gershom Garlngarr

Gershom Garlngarr, from Gunbalanya, NT attended a weeklong workshop at UAP in Brisbane in 2007/2008, as part of a
similar series of workshops called Gatherings, whereby artists from remote communities from around the country were
given the chance to extend their practices, and have their works cast. The workshops were a joint initiative between The
Toga Group and UAP, as the result of a Public Art Advisory Panel’s concept to engage artists from remote areas to be part
of Toga’s Darwin Waterfront Precinct development which was completed. Additional to some of the Gatherings artists
being selected for public artwork commissions, as part of the development, a series of cast works was produced for
exhibition.
