Punmu depicts Bertha Linty’s birth Country and the Country of her mother and father. It is a deeply personal and significant place, remembered as a place of life, gathering and continuity for many people.
This Country is characterised by tali (sandhills) and is rich in resources. There is water at Punmu, making it an important place where families camped and returned to over generations. The surrounding land provides abundant mayi (bush foods), sustaining people both physically and culturally.
"The is my birth country and my mother and fathers country. It has lots of tali it is a special place for me. Lots of people camped here because it has water and lots of Mayi (bushfood)."
